ACEC Meeting Minutes
July 30, 1998

Summary of First ACEC Meeting -- Chairman Bonham gave a summary of the first ACEC meeting held on April 30 at the Gates Rubber Company in Denver, Colorado. He also asked for approval of the minutes of the April 30 meeting and he received unanimous approval of them.

Organization of the ACEC - Voting rules established at the April 30 meeting were one vote for association representative and one vote for member company representative. The voting rules were changed to be one vote for association either by member representative or association representative.

ACEC Work Group for Supplier Assisted Inventory Replenishment -- Chairman Bonham suggested that a special work be formed to address the supplier assisted inventory replenishment issue. He also mentioned that AWDA was forming a special group to address the same issue. His suggestion prompted a long discussion on the purpose of the ACEC. By unanimous vote it was decided that an ACEC work group would not be formed and the assignment of the work for supplier assisted inventory replenishment would be made to the AWDA IAT committee. ACEC members stated that our council needed the support of Autozone and PEP Boys and other retailers for an industry effort to create standards for supplier assisted inventory replenishment to be accepted by the aftermarket. Mike Williams of Ozark Automotive was listed as a reference for customer assisted vendor replenishment, since has is using the techniques with his stores. The Vics standard for supplier assisted inventory replenishment was also mentioned as a potential source of information. The council stated that the process to develop aftermarket standards should include all levels of the supply chain and that the business process for supplier assisted inventory replenishment needed to be clearly defined by the AWDA IAT Committee. Chairman Bonham stated that the AWDA IAT committee will discuss the topic in detail at the October 30 meeting in Las Vegas and asked that any interested parties should plan on attending the meeting.

ACEC Certification of Standards -- The ACEC voted to plan the certification of the APAA catalog standards and the AWDA bar code standards at the next meeting. The group thought that certification would help to promote the use of the standards in the aftermarket. Efforts will begin immediately by APAA and AWDA to prepare for the certification. The council decided that other projects on the project inventory would also be certified after they were further developed and better accepted by the aftermarket.

Review of the status of the ACEC Project Inventory -- The project inventory spreadsheet was discussed by the ACEC. A revised copy of the spreadsheet is attached and the comments column contains the project status and assignments in relation to each project area.

ASIA Proposed Project Process - The ACEC may begin by identifying a need to define an overall approach to the EC element. The ACEC then may wish assign a project with a Project Definition for an ACEC Work Group to take primary responsibility. The work group responsibility may be to either: Develop, Introduce (or publicize), Distribute, or Monitor the ACEC project. The process was changed to use existing EC work groups to handle ACEC projects. No ACEC work groups will be created.

Industry Wide Y2K test day - The council discussed the logistics of setting up an aftermarket Y2K test day. The council proposed two dates of April 1, 1999 and July 1, 1999 to give software providers time to fix any errors that took place during the April test. The test would be limited to the supply chain and not include other business functions such as banking. The test will be discussed at the next ACEC meeting, so that a recommendation can be made to the aftermarket.

Assignments of projects to workgroups and action items to ACEC Members - Assignments made to work groups were the following:
